LUCANIA. Metapontion. Circa 400-340 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 21 mm, 7.85 g, 6 h). Head of Demeter to right, wearing wreath of grain ears and pearl necklace; [on neck truncation, API]; to left, barley grain. Rev. METAΠON Ear of barley with seven grains; to left, locust upwards. HN Italy 1522. Noe 439. Rare. Minor weakness and a few light marks and a graffito on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
